Director's Notes
December 4, 2024 - Choir Update
Dear Parents and Families -

A few things that I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of:

Congratulations to all of our auditioners who participated in the Pre-Area round for the All State process. Of our 14 students who auditioned we have three that are moving on to the Area Round in January: Sofia Dunkerley - Soprano 1, Elise Kearns - Alto 2, Ayesha Mukherjee - Alto 2. In addition we had three students that are first alternates to those auditions so we are hoping they will get the opportunity to be moved up: Sydnee Lauritzen - Soprano 2, Alex Molinyawe - Alto 1, and Rheya Barai - Alto 2.
On a little bit of a sadder note, we have a voice teacher, Ms. Monroe, on faculty that is struggling through some health issues. If you would like to help her out or just would like to learn more please you can click here. Thank you for your support for her.
DON'T FORGET: Our Winter Concert is Tuesday, December 10th. Again, invite all your family and friends to come have a great time celebrating this time of year through song. Your students are working hard. This is a free concert and it will start about 7:15. We will be taking professional group photos of each choir and the entire choir starting at 7:00, so if you would like to take those pictures as well, come early! More information will be coming out tomorrow with greater details.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

November 12, 2024 - Choir Update
Parents and Families -
It is crazy that it is already the middle of November. Your students are working very hard to make sure that this next concert is even better than the last one. This winter concert will be one that you will want to invite the entire neighborhood to see - there is something for everyone!

Upcoming Events:

Fri.-Sat., November 15th and 16th - Region Clinic and Concert at Leander High School. If your student is singing in this, you should have received a separate email with the itinerary. Everyone is invited to come hear this wonderful concert on Saturday, November 16th at 5:00pm at Leander High School.
Thursday, November 21st - Choir Friends Giving. The council is wanting our choir family to share a meal together and just have some fun. On Thursday the 21st, from 5:15-7:15pm in the choir room we will be sharing a meal together. This is a pot-luck style event. We are asking Freshmen to bring in something Sweet, Sophomores bring something Savory or Salty, Juniors bring Paper goods (plates, napkins, plastic ware, cups, etc...), and Seniors bring drinks.

Tuesday, December 3rd - Pre Area Auditions. If your student is moving on to the next round of auditions for TMEA, please make sure that they are prepared. This audition registration begins at 5:00pm. More information will be coming soon for this event.

Tuesday, December 10th - REQUIRED WINTER CONCERT FOR ALL STUDENTS. This is your student's major grade for this reporting cycle. The Concert will start at 7:15pm - this is a change in time - in the PAC Concert Hall at Lake Travis High School. The doors will open at about 6:30. This is a free event so invite everyone you know to come. Students will need to have their Formal Uniform (tuxes and dresses) for the first half, and a "Tacky Christmas Sweater", or something more informal for the second half of the concert. Parents, plan on coming a little early so you and the community can bid on our silent auction items! If you have/know of a business that would be willing to offer something (your student doing yard work, babysitting, etc...) for this auction please contact Dara Welch Lauritzen at lthschoirtx@gmail.com
If you haven't paid your My Fair Share Fee yet, please make sure that you do so, as we have already begun spending this money on all of your students. If you need assistance with this please let me know.
Thank you for everything that you have done for us and for the choir program; your support is invaluable! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

November 6, 2024 - Senior Breakfast
Hello Everyone -
Just a reminder about the senior breakfast tomorrow morning. A few things for tomorrow:

When - 7:45am on Thursday, November 7th.
Where - Choir Room. To get in DO NOT USE THE FRONT DOORS OF THE SCHOOL.

Go up the stairway that is to the right of the PAC entrance. Use those double doors to enter and someone will be there to tell you how to get to the choir room.
*An update - since this event is happening before school, I was told that we will not need to "Raptor" everyone in, as long as you are not planning on staying once the school day begins.
For Parking, since it is before school starts you can park where you can find a spot.
Again we are super excited to celebrate Seniors and their families!

October 21, 2024 - Big Senior Events
Students and Parents -

I just wanted to reach out and say congratulations on making it to your senior year, and parents for getting your student through to this point. We know this is no easy task and it takes a village. We have a few things coming up that we want to encourage you all to participate in:
Baby Guessing Game - I think this year we had everyone participate in this, so thank you for getting your student's baby picture and current picture to us. We will have these pictures up for a good chunk of this semester.

Friday, October 25th - Senior singing the National Anthem. All seniors are invited to sing the National Anthem at the Westlake Football Game. Your students will get a ticket, but unfortunately, parents will have to purchase a ticket. Student need to meet me in the choir room at 6:15pm dressed in any combination of Red, Black, or White (school colors).

Thursday, November 7th - Senior Breakfast for Parents and Students. Parents and senior students are invited to join us for our Senior Breakfast. Please fill out this google form so we can plan accordingly. Please feel free to fill this form out together. This is a thank you for all you have done for the choir program whether this is your first year or your 4th year - we want to celebrate both parents and students. The breakfast is at 7:45am in the choir room. If you haven't been through the front office, you will be asked to provide your license/ID so we can "Raptor" you into the system.

Senior Boards will be going out pretty soon. These boards have your student's name on them and should be decorated by you or your student to help us know them a little better. These will be posted throughout the Spring Semester. They are due back to us after the winter break.
Thank you for everything you have done! It is a wonderful year and a sentimental year for everyone. We want you to know that we are here for you all and are excited to celebrate all your student's accomplishments.

October 12, 2024 - Choir Updates
Dear Parents and Families -

We have a few things that I need to make sure that everyone knows and our upcoming events that need your attention.
I am happy to say that Hufflepuff were the winners of this 9 weeks' house points! They will have a little party before school on Tuesday, Oct. 15th in the choir room. Encourage your student to help their house out by doing their sightreading challenge for Mr. Poynor and Ms. Fletcher.

Saturday, October 19th - You should have received an email concerning Region Audition Help, please read it and if you can help us out - sign up.
Sunday, October 20th the Varsity Mixed Choir and Mad Cavs will be singing at the Lake Travis Crisis Ministries Benefit Concert @ 3:00 at Lakeway Church. Those students need to be there by 1:30 in the formal attire. This is a free concert with choirs from within the community so come enjoy some really fun music.
Wednesday, October 23rd is our First Angel's Icehouse event. It will start at 6:30pm and go til 9:00pm. We are very excited to present this so come enjoy some great singing from some amazing students.
Tuesday, December 10th - Required Winter Concert for everyone. This will be a fun concert of winter/holiday music and one that is a favorite of many. Please put it on your calendar and encourage everyone you know to come hear these fantastic students.
If you haven't signed your student up for the Orlando trip, please do so quickly as we will need to make sure we can get the best price for the flights. We are hoping to have at least 50 participants going (this includes parents willing to go).
Thank you for everything that you are doing for your students. Don't forget to ask your student about the sightreading challenge and how they are doing with it. Encourage them to sing for Ms. Fletcher or Mr. Poynor.

October 11, 2024 - HELP NEEDED
Hello Parents -

Lake Travis HS Choir is hosting the region's biggest contest of the year on Saturday, October 19th. We need your help that day:

-
We need parents helping with registration, that will start at 8:00am, and then help passing out the cuts.
-
We need parents helping in front of each room as the monitor for each room (you will be in charge of saying the audition number and having students sign in at each room).
-
We need volunteers for Concessions help
-
We need a chaperone to watch our students and a few more to just monitor the cafeteria as we will have potentially 370 students in there all at one time.
If you can, please sign up through this Sign Up Genius. We will need lots of help this day. There are time slots available. If you can be there the entire time that would be great.

September 30, 2024 - Orlando Trip
Dear parents and Families -

We have plenty of room left on our trip to Orlando. We do need to try to fill this trip out, so if you are wanting to go please go ahead and sign up. You will need to do this ASAP, I was told that October 2nd is the last day to sign up. I am attaching the flyer with the registration instructions along with the link to the website. Can't wait to go on this trip with you all. It will be a fun time at Disney and Universal Studios. The trip is April 17-20, this means your student will only miss one school day while maximizing the amount of time at the parks. This includes airfare, staying at a Disney Resort, Meals (except for lunch), and park hopper tickets, transportation to and from Universal Studios.

September 23, 2024 - Choir Update
Dear Parents and Families -

Two big things for this week:
Don't forget our concert is on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00 PM in the PAC Concert Hall. Please go into the PAC doors and up the stairs - people will be directing you where to go from there. This is a free concert to our community so feel free to invite any and everyone you know to come enjoy an evening of some fantastic music.
Your students will be staying on campus for our rehearsal, dinner and then the concert, so please make sure that they make it to school on Wednesday with their Choir Shirt that they are receiving today and tomorrow, jeans (of any color but preferably with no extra holes in them) and closed-toe shoes. We do encourage them to wear it to school that day so that way people will see a sea of green shirts in the hallway and begin to ask questions.
Secondly, if your student would like to join us on our trip to Orlando this spring, please see the attached flyer and register ASAP. We need to begin preparing for that trip and need to know how many students are going to be going with us. Parents you are welcome to join us on the trip if you would like. We will have some extra paperwork through the school for you to fill out. Please go to this link to register. I have also attached the Informational flyer with clickable links.
I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!!!

September 12, 2024 - Choir Update
Parents and Families -

Our Fall Concert is going to be here before we know it (September 25th at 7:00pm in the PAC Concert Hall). Please make sure that your student has jeans that they can wear (any color is fine) and closed-toe shoes (sneakers are fine) for this concert. We will be giving them their choir shirt the week of the concert. Students will wear this outfit - choir shirt, jeans with no holes, and closed-toe shoes - for the concert. We will be feeding all students after school as they will not be leaving campus that day until the concert is over. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Tuesday, September 17th - The choir is having its first Spirit Night at P. Terry's on 620. Go enjoy dinner between 4:00-10:00pm to help support the choir program. Encourage your friends and other families to go as well. A portion of all the proceeds will be donated to the choir program.
Saturday, September 21st - Choir Olympics from 10:00-12:00(12:30). This is a fun event for us to just enjoy being a choir family together. We will play games, have some healthy competition but most importantly, come together and begin creating some of those amazing bonds that will last all four years of High School.

Sunday, September 22nd - Deadline for the following: If your student went to a Choir Camp this past summer, the Executive Booster Board has set aside some funds to help offset some of that cost. We want to encourage students to continue their personal growth while they are a part of the choir program. If you are interested, the students need to fill out this form (it was also emailed to their school accounts), you will need to be available as there are some questions that require both student and parent information. The deadline will be September 22nd at 10:00pm and you will need to provide proof of payment for this. There are some things that need to be emailed to our Booster Board as well at lthschoirtx@gmail.com in order to be considered for this.
Thank you so much for your support and for allowing us the opportunity to get to know your students and make music with them. We are so very grateful and cannot wait for you to hear what they can accomplish within the span of 14 rehearsals.

September 10, 2024 - Choir Update
Dear Parents and Families -

It's September already, and we are getting into the swing of things up here. Your students are creating some amazing musical moments and I can't wait for you to hear what they are doing. We have some big expenses coming up soon, and we need every student's My Fair Share to be paid no later than September 13th. Only about 60% of the choir has paid this fee. If you filled out the registration form, but didn't pay, please click here to pay online. If you haven't filled out the Registration Form, please click here and then continue on to the payment page If you need to send a check or cash with your student that is also fine, just make sure they give it to Mr. Poynor (not Ms. Fletcher).
Also make sure that you and your student signed the ECC form and that your student turned it in. We will reach out to those of you who are still not on the Drug Testing Consent List to make sure that we are working within the district guidelines.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Tuesday, September 17th is a Spirit Night at P.Terry's from 4:00-10:0pm. The Choir program will receive 10% of all proceeds from this night. Please take your family to P.Terry's next Tuesday and encourage all of Lakeway to do the same.
SPRING TRIP REGISTRATION - If you would like your student to participate in our trip to Disney and Universal, please see the attached flyer on how to Register your student. Please do this as soon as possible so we can properly prepare.

Friday, September 13th - All Tenor/Bass Rehearsal after school.
Wednesday-Friday, September 18th-20th - Freaky Friday Musical Auditions

This Thursday from 6:30-7:30 is our Do-Re-Mi Night (a rebranding of a Parent Meeting). Ms. Fletcher and I will be there to talk to everyone, but it will be more than just that. This will be a moment to DOnate - sign up for volunteer opportunities, talk about sponsorships and other types of donation to the choir program - offering of services that you could give to the program, etc. This will also be a time for you to REgister your students and pay the My-Fair-Share Fee (which we will discuss).
This is your opportunity to get the calendar for the year, sign up for voice lessons, drug testing consent form, ECC. This will be a great time to MIngle with other choir parents (Freshmen Parents to Meet Upperclassmen parents; New Parents to the program to meet veteran parents), meet Mr. Poynor and Ms. Fletcher, and to hear about the upcoming trips, how class is run and expectations from students in regards to being a part of the choir program.

During this time if your student has not done their uniform fitting please bring them so that they can do their fitting in the choir room.

When you go to the main entrance of the school, before you go up the hill, the Performing Arts Center is off to the right. I have attached a little map that the school has with it listed as "BB." It is downstairs.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.

August 5, 2024 - Welcome to Choir!
Dear Friends and Family Members -

I hope your summer was a great one. It seems like the break flew by and we are gearing up for a wonderful school year. The first thing that I need from you as a parent is to please fill out this google form with your student. This is a quick form and should take maybe two minutes. Each student should fill it out once. Since student accounts may or may not be available, I am sending this to you all. However, within it is some important information. We will be having a parent meeting on August 22nd at 6:30pm in the Black Box Theatre.
I will be sending out an official Newsletter later this week with more important information. Ms. Fletcher and I are so excited for this school year!

July 23, 2024 - Dear Students and Parents
Dear Parents -
I have a huge favor to ask of you. We have been asked for the choir to sing the National Anthem for Convocation on Friday, August 9th at 8:00am. I am needing to know if we will have enough students willing to sing the national anthem at this time. I don't know how many students are checking their school emails so I decided to check in with you all first. Please let me know by replying to this email if your student will be willing to sing on Friday, August 9th, for us.
Thank you so much, and I am excited for the possibilities of this next school year. Have a great week.
